Description

A short trip of 15 kilometres or so up the A4 eastbound and you come to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. Worth the visit not only for the splendid architecture but also for lunch/dinner at Demuths, the areas longest established vegetarian restaurant.
Bang up to date with contemporary vegan/vegetarian cuisine, offering a superb selection to suit all tastes, Demuths have their own cookbook available - the Green World Cookbook - and also run their own highly recommended vegetarian cookery schools. Fantastic.
Check out some of Demuths recipes .

"Excellent restaurant, although getting rather pricey in recent years. A meal for two with a bottle of wine here will currently (Sept 2007) set you back £70+tip. Perhaps this is a good thing because the atmosphere is decidedly civilized (rather than rainbow warrior & dreadlocks!) and so makes this a great place for entertaining that special someone. "

"Great food all round, including yummy desserts (where many places just don't bother for vegans). Sometimes I wish there could be more of the main meal and less salad but just a small moan. Good choice of vegan wines and other drinks and very happy to adapt things for children. Beats 'Maitreya' hands down who, for me, have become rather pretentious (food insubstantial with more concern for how it looks than how it tastes), find it odd that anyone can even compare the two, Demuths is miles better for vegans. "my favourite vegetarian restaurant, absolutely delicious main courses, and loads on the plate, we usually share a starter and a pud and feel well fed. the staff are always very sweet and helpful, its great to have such good vegan food in bath. "

"Really nice restaurant. Has a cosy, homely feel to it. The vegan chocolate fudge cake is absolutely boootiful! Definately a 'must visit'. "

"Chocolate fudge cake to die for. Just has to be done. It's a tough call who is better between Demuths and Cafe Maitreya. You won't be disappointed I'm sure. "
