Description
Classy joint opposite the Colston Hall, and known to be vegan friendly since the original Kathmandu was a vegetarian take-away on Seymour Rd in Easton in the Eighties. Expanded to include a second place half way up the Gloccy past the Forrester's in the Nineties, then the two places combined to provide the latest reincarnation of Kathmandu in the naughties.
Lots of vegan options on the menu and the team always seem happy to oblige, and if there is one place in town where you can be as sure as can be that vegan means vegan in an omnivore restaurant then its here at the Kat. Luvvly Jubbly. Great value too, and spicy as you like.

"We found this restaurant on your site and it did was really good. The friendly waiter first checked with the kitchen and then handed us over to the lady who knows vegan (!). We chose three main dishes - dal, bringjal and allo tarkari - the last because we asked for a Nepalese dish. All were excellent. We have eaten Nepalese food before so we do have a basis for comparison. Dinner for two greedy vegans plus drinks came to around £40 but well worth it. The lady who spoke to us says they often cater for vegans and could organise vegan wine with advance notice. P.S.We rounded off the evening at the King William pub (again thanks to your website). We will be back. Thanks for making our trip to Bristol so enjoyable "

"This is a really nice place. It's right around the corner from the centre and the people understand completely what vegan means. The food is great. A bit dearer than Falafel King but worth every penny!! "
