The December issue of Clifton Life has an article about Bristol Vegans on page 9

‘World Vegan Day was on 1 November and many campaigning and fundraising event were held nationally, but due to the demand November has now been designated Wolrd Vegan Month, to accomodate all the activities planned in Bristol and around the country. Local group, the Bristol Vegans, celebrated at Krishna's Inn, in Clifton. And they have other reasons to celebrate too, as they have seen huge increases in membership since the group was set up in March 2006. Bristol has always been the centre of veganism and regularly holds the annual Bristol Vegan Fayre – the world's largest vegan event. Ellen Howard, co-ordinator of Bristol Vegans explains why she thinks so many more people aren't just going veggie but vegan, “Many people are now realising they can do more for the environment by going vegan than anything else. The United Nations has just published a paper on ‘The Shadow of Livestock’, expalining that ‘The Livestock sector is a major stressor on many ecosystems and on the planet as a whole’, and I think findings such as these are proving a determining factor in many peoples lifestyle choices. It is also much easier to be vegan these days than it was 20 years ago.” Many more exciting events are being planned, including a vegan performing arts evening, with many important vegan artists and groups taking part, and a Hemp and Vegan sampling event outside Wild Oats in Bristol.’

Big thanks to Jenny and Ian from Excellart for sorting that one! you can grab your free copy of Clifton Life (December 07) from shops in – well, Clifton, I guess, top of the Blackboy, etc.
