Bristol's Fresh and Wild Shutting Down
The biggest wholefood shop in town is shutting 15th September
Although not completely vegan, Fresh and Wild has showcased loads of vegan food since it opened a few years back (2003 ? 2004 ?) and has definitely impressed everyone with their splendid display of fresh organic fruit and veg, as well as vegan options in their juice bar and cafe, plus loads of vegan groceries, locally produced food, cutting edge bodycare, and much much more that is cruelty free and veggie/ vegan. But no more.......their parent company Wholefoods posted a £10million over the last 12 months covering 7 or 8 outlets, all of them in London except for Bristol, and something has had to give..... is the sign of things to come? are more independent wholefood shops set to shut? or will our other local Bristol wholefood shops be rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of an upturn in trade now the biggest shop on the block has shut? whatever – much like Out of This World which opened (and soon shut) in Clifton shopping centre back in the 90's, promising loads but ultimately failing to deliver enough to sustain the promise, so Fresh and Wild Bristol bites the dust. Our sympathies to all the local people who are now out of a job and also to those who shared a dream and had the balls to see it become reality before dying of death. if anyone in the wholefood/natural products trade has any vacancies, please contact Fresh and wild before spet 15th 08, there are plenty of excellent staff now out of a job.
