Timbo of Yaoh, organiser of the Bristol Vegan Fayres, Eco Veggie Fayres, Publisher of Off The Hoof and A Vegan Guide to Bristol, and co founder of the Bristol Vegans group, has been honoured with the Unsung Hero Award for 2010 and The Arthur Ling Memorial Awards for 2009

The Arthur Ling Memorial Award – written by Adrian Ling, Plamil You maybe aware of this award, which was initially won by Sandra Hood in 2006, followed by Dr Dan Lyons and last year Pat of Veggies. This Award is sponsored by Plamil, and given to a person or group that has made outstanding contribution to veganism. http://www.plamilfoods.co.uk/news/award08

Timbo from Yaoh has won the 2009 Award for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of veganism. His enthusiasm, dedication and friendly approach is an inspiration to many to ‘get out there’, hold events/shows and promote veganism at ground level. The explosion of vegan ‘one day’ events held all over the country, undertaken on a local basis, for local people, is a testament to the energy you give to your events. This gives me particular pleasure as I know my father thought very highly of you and the tireless work and cheerful manner to go about every task!

The Unsung Hero Award – By Sophie Fenwick-Paul You may not have heard of Tim Barford, but you will have heard of the Bristol Vegan Fayre and nationwide Eco Veggie Fayres. Timbo is the driving force behind all these, bringing veganism and eco-conscienceness to the masses like no one else, so has been awarded the Activeg Unsung Vegan Hero Award 2010. The prize was two nights bed, breakfast and dinner for two people at the luxurious Lancrigg Hotel in the Lakes. They serve some of the most delicious meals in the UK.

Tim was presented with the award at the Reading Eco Veggie Xmas Fayre on 19th December. This gorgeous event was full of seasonal cheer and people all working together for the sake of the planet. Another amazing achievement for Timbo, at great cost to himself. Thank you Timbo! You have changed the lives of hundreds of people who will never know how to thank you. And thanks too to Robert of Lancrigg for being so generous in contributing so much to this prize!
